چکیده

Cereal crops especially maize production in Ethiopian Central Rift Valley is affected by biotic and abiotic production. This study was conducted for two seasons (2015-2016) the best cropping system identified using Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications. The experiment had six treatments (1) Continuous mono-cropping under conventional practice (CN), (2) continuous mono conservation agriculture (CA) (3) relay double bean planting within a season (maize inter-cropping: second round after immediate harvesting of first bean), (4) Double inter sole lablab), (5) bean) (6) (bean maize). In 2016, highest biomass yield maximum water use efficiency were obtained from value 16050 kg/ha 31 kg mm-1, respectively. Maize-bean outperformed CA CN 182 138% grain yield. Water higher than maize) 366 197% 2015 For biomass, similar 18 mm-1. diverse planted together: inter-cropping at different time (relay cropping) are good options residual soil moisture to sustainably improve crop productivity. Technical Efficiency of Maize Producing Farmers in Arsi Negelle, Central Rift Valley of Ethiopia: Stochastic Frontier Approach

The study was aimed at analysing the technical efficiency in maize production of smallholder farmers in central rift valley of Ethiopia. Cross sectional data from 138 maize producer farmers were collected during 2011/12 production season. The estimated results of the Cobb-Douglas frontier model with inefficiency variables shows that the mean technical efficiency of the farmers in the production...

Planting scenarios for maize cropping under drought conditions

ABSTRACT Water management is an essential concept for water intensive crop such as maize dealing with water shortage under drought conditions. Maize production is ranked after wheat and barely in Fars province, Iran. Therefore, the present study was conducted to investigate the effects of planting methods by conventional and modified planters on maize growth and yield at different irrigation re...

Conservation Agriculture Practices in Rainfed Uplands of India Improve Maize-Based System Productivity and Profitability

Traditional agriculture in rainfed uplands of India has been experiencing low agricultural productivity as the lands suffer from poor soil fertility, susceptibility to water erosion and other external pressures of development and climate change. A shift toward more sustainable cropping systems such as conservation agriculture production systems (CAPSs) may help in maintaining soil quality as we...
